Pixus Technologies reveals new SDR

Pixus Technologies has released the RX420 NI ruggedised software defined radio (SDR), the company announced on 22 May.

Using Emerson’s newest Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP), the NI Ettus USRP X420 features two transmit and two receive channels, with frequency coverage from 10MHz-20GHz and up to 1 GHz instantaneous bandwidth.

The unit comes in both IP67 outdoor and full MIL ruggedised and qualified designs.  The conduction-cooled enclosures have options for extreme temperatures from -40°-85°C with an internal heater and/or MIL grade external fan pulling air over the conduction fins. Customisation options are also available.

Applications range from G6 wireless in the FR3 band, through radar and non-terrestrial networks (NTN) to satellite communications.  The wide bandwidth allows for high resolution in localisation scenarios for applications such integrated sensing and communications (ISAC). Each channel supports LO sharing, making the RX420 an ideal platform for building multi-channel phase coherent systems.

In addition to the ruggedized Emerson USRPs, Pixus offers MOSA/SOSA aligned backplanes, enclosures and chassis managers.  The company also develops ruggedised and COTS solutions for various VITA and PICMG specifications.
