Hensoldt has secured a contract for the dismounted Joint Fire Support Teams (JFST), according to a 4 August company release.

Delivering advanced capability for multi-domain operations, JFST will equip Joint Terminal Attack Controllers and Joint Forward Observers (JTAC/JFO), allowing for enhanced capability in requesting and directing close air support and indirect artillery fire.

Dismounted JFST integrates the C4 and fire support software ‘Adler III,’ complemented by modern communications, networking capability and intelligent power supply. As prime contractor, Hensoldt will be responsible for development and integration of the Digitally Aided Close Air Support (DaCAS) software that enables digital linking between the JTAC and the aircraft, including a video downlink system that maintains the ‘man-in-the-loop’ protocol. Pertinent EO sensors for target measurement and laser target designators are also incorporated and a purpose-designed transport system has also been developed.
