Specialising in electric propulsion and power management systems for UxS, ePropelled took the opportunity of AUSA’s Annual Meeting in Washington this week to announce the appointment of Harry Petrey as Director of Defense Affairs.
In his new role, Petrey will lead strategic engagement across the defence and national security community, supporting ePropelled’s growing presence in autonomous systems, sovereign manufacturing initiatives, advanced propulsion, power management and next-generation defence technologies. He will also support the expansion of the company’s US manufacturing capabilities for government customers, helping strengthen domestic production capacity and resilient supply chains for critical propulsion technologies.
Petrey brings over 30 years’ experience driving technological innovation in defence and intelligence markets, having previously served in senior roles in the US Departments of War and of State, as well as in the US Navy, intelligence community, industry and academia. He has led organisations through complex change, from technological transformation through data governance to rapid prototyping.
Most recently, Petrey served as a Senior Solutions Expert at Mission Technologies, a division of HII. Previous positions include Policy Team Leader for DoW’s Chief Digital and AI Officer, Chief Data Officer (CDO) for Navy Intelligence, CDO for the Bureau of Intelligence and Research at the US Department of State, and Special Advisor to the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security.
He holds two Master’s degrees and a Baccalaureate degree from the National Defense University and is a Navy veteran with active service in the Iraqi theatre of Operations.
As Director of Defense Affairs, Petrey will support ePropelled’s expanding presence in defence and national security markets, helping connect operational requirements with advanced propulsion, power management and energy technologies for next-generation autonomous platforms operating in the air, on land and at sea.
“The United States and her allies are at a pivotal moment, facing an urgent challenge to expand manufacturing capacity, accelerate innovation and field advanced capabilities at scale and speed. Events such as AUSA, Sea-Air-Space, and the Dept of Commerce’s Inaugural Drone Summit unite leaders and organizations together to drive this mission onward. ePropelled’s technological mastery aligns closely with these national security imperatives, supporting the next generation of autonomous and uncrewed systems. Onshoring manufacturing is finally getting the B12 shot it deserves, and I am excited to help turn that momentum into meaningful capability and capacity for America and her allies,” commented Petrey.
