Sitep Australia has been contracted by Rohde & Schwarz Australia to supply its antenna technology for the UHF-MILSATCOM system to be installed on the RAN’s Hunter-class frigates. Since last year, Rohde & Schwarz has been under contract to BAE Systems to provide its NAVICS communications technology for the first three vessels in the programme. NAVICS provides full Voice-Over-IP functionality and enables easy interfacing with all IP-based subsystems, such as radios, broadcast and intercom systems.
Raffaele Iannizzotto, Business Development Director at Sitep Australia, commented: “Sitep Australia’s antenna technology for the UHF-MILSATCOM antenna systems have been installed and are operational on Anzac class frigates, Hobart class destroyers, and AOR vessels of the Royal Australian Navy […] This demonstrates our commitment to building a resilient local capacity to innovate, create and supply communication systems. We are a trusted partner to both the Commonwealth and Rohde & Schwarz, supporting the Sovereign Defence Industrial Priority of Continuous Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment.”
