Bundeswehr implementing SitaWare Battlefield Health

C4ISR and cyberLand warfareNews

Germany’s armed forces are to implement a medical command and control system centred on the SitaWare Battlefield Health software solution from Systematic, the company announced on 31 October.

The system enables casualty tracking, patient documentation and the creation of an operational picture – a new capability that expands on the existing operational use the Bundeswehr makes of SitaWare. Enhancing situational overview and coordinating medical assets illustrate the closely linked issues of medical care and command and control system efficiency: SitaWare Battlefield Health acts as a turnkey military healthcare solution, combining healthcare IT, C4ISR solutions and military organizational requirements.

DA Comment

Software enabling improved efficiency in military operations is scarcely a new phenomenon. However, as the military worldwide is pulled into an ever-widening arena of disaster relief, humanitarian assistance and crisis management operations, improving and speeding up an ability to respond to healthcare related challenges speedily and efficiently does seem to be a solution whose time has come.
