STM completes domestic delivery of ALPAGU loitering munition

Land warfareNewsRobotics

Continuing to expand its range of tactical UAS, STM Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.Ş., (STM) has completed deliveries of its ALPAGU loitering munition to the Turkish armed forces. The system had already won its first export order in 2023, before domestic deliveries began.

Noted for its light weight (1.95kg including a 270g warhead), ALPAGU has quickly established a reputation for effectiveness, combining high dive speed, low radar cross-section and an enviable capability for precision strike by day or night. With a range of 8km, it has been specifically designed for counter-terror, cross-border and rban warfare operations – areas in which the Turkish armed forces have significant operational requirements.

Easily carried by a single soldier, ALPAGU can be brought into action within a minute and uses both AI and advanced image processing to enable high precision engagement. It is also compatible with being integrated onto a wide variety of platforms – on land, at sea and in the air – at the client’s discretion. A mesh network communications architecture means multiple platforms can be controlled simultaneously by a single ground control station with sustainable ‘man in the loop’ capabilities. The company claims only two platforms with ALPAGU’s characteristics are being produced anywhere in the world.
