A significant player in the domain of power and data management solutions (as well as innovative head and soldier systems) Galvion will unveil the BATLCHRG UX wireless charging systems at DSEI 2025 in London.
On stand N2-240, Galvion will showcase the next-generation technology that “redefines how power can be delivered to unmanned systems operating in remote and high threat environments,” according to a company release. The wireless charging concept was first revealed at SOF Week in 2024 and is now renamed BATLCHRG MX: the UX unmanned systems variant is debuting at DSEI 2025.
Using magnetic resonance technology (think ‘MRI for UAS’) BATLCHRG UX provides autonomous recharging for UxS and has been engineered from the outset for agility and resilience in austere environments. Close attention has been paid to providing a wide recharging surface, for example, thus obviating the time-consuming need for precise alignment, and to catering for obstacles such as snow, ice, water and earth. It can, for instance, be deployed beneath debris to facilitate covert operations.
“It’s not just about powering devices, it’s about generating tactical advantage by enabling persistent, agile operations that keep our warfighters ahead of the threat,” stated Galvion CEO, Todd Stirtzinger.
DA Comment
Current conflicts highlight every day the growing need for persistence and endurance in unmanned systems – particularly airborne. This, coupled with an ever-increasing demand for more sensors, computing-at-the-edge and more powerful communications, means that inadequate power budgets – despite having been perfectly adequate at the time of conception – are one of the greatest vulnerabilities of current generation UxS. Galvion’s solution addresses the conundrum indirectly by providing rapid, agile and operationally secure recharging capabilities. The company’s legacy in developing intelligent power delivery and management solutions means, we suspect, this is but the first step on an interesting path of improvement, innovation and increased efficiency.
