Curtiss-Wright announced the addition of PacStar 466 and 467 Tactical Radio Gateways on 21 October, enhancing the PacStar 400 series-based modular radio center (MRC) and offering high flexibility, rapid deployment and simplified integration for voice and data communications.
The highly interoperable Radio-over-IP (RoIP) modules are designed for rapid deployment at the tactical edge and enable seamless integration of military and civilian radios into tactical IP networks, providing reliable, secure cross-platform communications in dynamic, challenging environments. Key features include:
- Touchscreen-enabled network management simplifies RoIP setup in austere environments;
- Seamless integration with PacStar MRC and PacStar 400-Series modules;
- Support for SIP, multicast, unicast and popular applications such as WAVE, ICE and Cisco CallManager;
- User-friendly interface reduces training time and accelerates deployment;
- Enables secure, real-time voice convergence and cross-banding across diverse radio types
- PacStar 466 is built on Parraid’s NRG5 with four radio interface ports, enabling decentralized, mesh-based interoperability – it also includes remote radio control and full voice recording/playback;
- PacStar 467 is powered by SyTech RADIUS software and supports federated RoIP networks with drag-and-drop GUI. It features standalone Linux OS and virtual control heads for seamless operation without a server.
PacStar 466 and 467 allow users to quickly connect legacy and modern radio systems into a cohesive network, increasing reliability, enhancing situational awareness, and supporting real-time communications across teams. These new modules build on Curtiss-Wright’s commitment to delivering scalable, mission-ready solutions that ensure secure and effective communication during multi-domain operations, joint task force coordination, and other complex tactical missions.
“Our customers need communications solutions that are easy to operate, highly flexible, and built for the mission,” said Roark McDonald, General Manager PacStar, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions. “PacStar Modular Radio Center gives operators at any echelon the ability to achieve voice convergence and cross-banding across disparate radio types. With the addition of PacStar 466 and 467 we’re giving users additional options for integration into unified communications systems at any scale, from small covert teams to DOD-wide interoperable systems. This is essential to accelerating mission readiness and maintaining communications superiority in the field.”
